Loving in Limbo, the film

This year has been a pretty big year in the life of Susan Parker. Not only have I started producing, I have also thrown myself into the deep end of directing. It has always been a little secret part of myself that I have never really talked much about. This year, the opportunity has arisen to take over the directing reigns of a documentary project that I have been involved with for the last year, and I am running with it.

You may have heard that I launched a Kickstarter campaign a couple of months ago and that we didn't reach our funding levels. It did, however, make me realise that I am passionately committed to this project and that I wanted to see it carry on. So Hap and I decided between us that I was going to take over the directing role as well as producing the film. It also made me realise that I had a very strong sense of where I wanted the story to go and it now gives me that chance to do this. And, I love it. I am really enjoying being fully immersed in this creative process.

So, after all this, I am going to be launching a new kickstarter campaign in early November, for my debut directorial role in the Documentary Feature Film called Loving In Limbo. This is a love story about two people who have had a very interesting journey in their path of love – long distance relationship, deportation from the States, breakup in Africa, getting back together, marriage, permanent ban on entering into the USA, fighting and overturning this ban, getting a green card and finally living together in the same country after 7 years.

I fell in love with this story cos it made me believe in love all over again.  I haven't had the best of luck with my love life over the years. Funnily enough I had my own version of a long distance relationship that ended with a breakup from Africa. So meeting Hap and Mandy and hearing their story really resonated with me and made me want to tell people about their journey; their journey of how they overcame all the obstacles that were thrown at them.

This film will explore the nature of love, and the sacrifices that people make to be in their relationships. Some people are spectacular at committing to their love relationships and often sacrifice above and beyond for their relationships, and I intend on exploring this in further depth.

It's going to be an exciting journey and I am going to do some stream of consciousness writing about this process of preparing for a kickstarter campaign. I may well carry on about what it is like to do a campaign and then there is the exciting path of walking my talk and actually getting on with directing this fabulous film.

Cheers

Susan
